How to subscribe to new podcasts?

There are three options to subscribe to podcasts:
  1. manually enter a podcast URL
  2. open a podcast URL from your browser
  3. import multiple subscriptions via OPML

Manually entering a podcast URL

  1. Select the Podcasts section from the navigation drawer
  2. Tap the add action (+) in the action bar
  3. Enter or paste the RSS/Atom URL of the podcast to add
  4. uPod will load the podcast and it's most recent episodes
  5. Tap the podcast's subscribe button and the most recent episodes will be put into your inbox
Tip: From the podcast view you can also add single episodes to your library without subscribing to the podcast.

Open a podcast URL from your browser

  1. Browse to the website of your favorite podcast from within your android browser
  2. Tap the podcast's RSS/Atom URL on the website
  3. Android should bring up an app list that allows you to select the app you would like to open the URL with. Select the entry uPod podcast from this list.
  4. uPod will load the podcast and it's most recent episodes
  5. Tap the podcast's subscribe button and the most recent episodes will be put into your inbox
Tips: 
  • If the uPod entry does not occur in the list of apps to open the podcast URL with, you can copy the URL in most browser by tapping and holding it an then paste it using the manual process described above.
  • From the podcast view you can also add single episodes to your library without subscribing to the podcast.

Import multiple subscriptions via OPML

Most news readers and podcast players support OPML export of your subscriptions. You can import such an OPML file into uPod to subscribe to multiple feeds at once:
  1. Export the OPML file from your current podcast player.
  2. Bring the OPML file onto your device for example by sending it as a mail attachement or putting it in your dropbox.
  3. Open the file from your mail client, your dropbox or using an android file explorer. (In the latter case if the explorer asks you which format this file has simply choose to open it as text file.)
  4. Android should bring up an app list that allows you to select the app you would like to open the file with. Select the entry uPod OPML import from the list and uPod will import the subscriptions and deliver the most recent episodes to your inbox. As the import is done on the uPod server this may take a moment.
Hint: If one or more podcasts from your OPML file are no longer available uPod will nevertheless import the rest. So when the import completed you should check your podcast list.
