Google is an invasive species and I will not give it permissions. Please provide an alternative or I am off to a new pod app.
Published an updated version at Google play on December 7, which fixes the problem, that uPod asks for Google Drive permission, even if cloud sync isn’t enabled. Sorry for the bug and the inconvenience.
The article at https://upod.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1110583-upod-and-google-drive describes when Google Drive is needed by uPod and how to avoid it.
Ability that uPod is deleting an episode after it had been listened. Can be added as a general option or as an individual podcast feed option.3 votes
This is already there since the first version of uPod. The downloaded files of all finished or skipped episodes listed under “Recently finished” will be deleted after 24 hours.
uPod currently supports casting to Chromecast. Google recently introduced Google Cast for Audio (http://www.google.com/cast/audio/) which allows for audio players to cast to Speakers, entertainment systems that support the technology.
It would be great if uPod supported Google Cast for Audio.3 votes
Works now in all versions.
It would be helpful to have the app delete episodes automatically if a downloaded number per podcast is exceeded19 votes
The premium version supports this already since the beginning: bring up a podcast’s episode list and choose “Subscription settings” from the menu. There you can configure the number of newest episodes to be kept for this podcast — all older episodes will be marked as finished (and deleted) automatically.
I use this for one of my news podcast where I am always only interested in the latest episode — all older episodes are deleted automatically.
You can try the premium features for one week. Go to “Settings > License” and start your trial period whenever you want.
A playlist where episodes are not downloaded, but streamed, will stop after each episode, and the next one has to be played manually. It makes sense if this is done to keep download traffic in check.
An option to enable this (keeping it off as default) or maybe restrict it to wi-fi only would be useful.1 vote
There is already an option available in the playback sdettings.
having uPod's player controls available on Android Wear devices would be awesome!3 votes
Already works: Wearable device shows playback notification and playback actions are available via swipe right.
Lots of podcasts use chapters to skip forward. Examples in germany are Fanboys or Happyshooting.
However, I only know about 1 client for Android that supports this (Antennapod, which I don't like for other reasons). Could you be the second player to support this?41 votes
uPod 5 (which will be available very soon) brings chapter support, including chapter images and links, for MP3 and M4A/AAC/MP4 files.
It would be great if we could long press a Podcast in My Podcasts and next to inductive there would be options to add every element of that Podcast to My List
At the moment if you discover a new Podcast and want to listen to every item at some point you have to select each entry separately which is a 'pain in the ass' for some Feeds with more than 100 elements...9 votes
In the next version you can bring up the episode list of a podcast (e.g. from “my podcasts”) and select the new “Save unfinished episodes for later” option from the menu to … well … save all unfinished episodes in the “saved for later” section.
The feature is already available in the nightly channel.
While setting the app up I had a problem that some elements would be loaded automatically - sometimes even without an entry in the Downloaded List
I think it could be useful for normal usage as well if there would be a category that just shows every downloaded item...3 votes
Version 1.7 brings the new “Downloaded” section.
special feature for new casts (daily news). Download, but keep only for a defined time period (for example 3 days). Delete after this period, regardless of whether it is played or not. Or a "keep only the latest news" mode. This will keep only relevant (latest) news and keeps memory consumption low.1 vote
This is already available!
1) Bring up the podcast you would like to configure (e.g. choose it from “My podcasts”) and choose “Subscription settings” from the menu.
2) Enable the “Limit number of episodes” option
3) Specify the number of episodes to keep using the “Max kept episodes” option
Afterwards uPod will keep only the specified number of episodes for this podcast and delete older episodes.
Star an episode to keep it until you delete it manually.
The setting is synced across all your devices.
Already available in “Settings > Download > Automatic Download”
Add an option to stop playing at the end of each episode and not move onto the next episode in the playlist automatically.52 votes
The sleep timer available in the premium version provides an option to stop playback at the end of the current chapter/episode.
There should be an option to bring up status bar notifications for new inbox episodes.3 votes
implemented in version 1.1
In addition to the Simple Mode, I would like to have an option to add downloaded episodes automatically to the playlist.
It should be possible to manage this for each subscription (like it is with "Add automatically to Library" right now) and best would be if you could choose for each subscription if it should be positioned on top or bottom of the playlist.
Of course the user should still be able to change the order manually29 votes
implemented in version 1.1
Starting with uPod 1.2 the playback bar is completely hidden when the playlist is empty. A “add random episode” action has been added to the playlist.
Currently episodes are always ordered newest to oldest. There should be the possibility order them with the oldest on top.31 votes
Available in uPod 2.2
Stop uPod playing after X minutes67 votes
uPod 5.1 Premium supports automatic stop of playback at end of chapter, episode or after a specified time. Read the full story at http://upod.mobi/release/sleep-timer
When adding new podcasts, sometimes I prefer to start from the beginning instead of listening to the newest first. For instance, serialized fiction. If I add a podcast with more than a hundred episodes, such as "We're Alive," I'd want a podcatcher to play them for me in order automatically instead of having to add each old episode manually until I've caught up.3 votes
In version 1.7 if you add multiple selected episodes to the playlist they are added ordered ascending by their published date.
In cover view you have to scroll very much if you have a large podcast collection. In this case I would prefer a list view (with a small cover as an icon). Instead of 4 cover per screen you can easily access 8-10 list items per screen.9 votes
Implemented two additional new view modes:
1) podcast list as supposed by this issue — 6 items in portait mode on phone
2) tiny podcast grid (coverart without title) — 12 items in portrait mode on phone
See http://upod.mobi/preview/get-more-podcasts-on-your-screen-with-new-display-options for screenshots.
On android Jelly Bean (4.1) and above uPod provides playback controls within the playback notification shown in the status bar. Notifications are limited to have three buttons. Currently these are stop, play/pause and skip.
There should be a preference/settings to configure which buttons to show in the notification bar. The following options make sense:
1) stop - play/pause - skip
2) stop - play/pause - fast forward
3) rewind - play/pause - fast forward4 votes
Implemented for next release.
